             5.5  CPI-IW is a price index released by the Labour Bureau to measure the impact of price
             rise on the cost of living for working class families spread across certain select industries. The
             base year of CPI-IW has been revised from its earlier 2001 to a more recent base year of 2016
             (Box 1).

                The  CPI-IW  is  compiled  and  disseminated  by  the  Labour  Bureau  on  a  monthly  basis.  It
                measures changes in the retail prices of a fixed basket of goods and services being consumed
                by an average working-class family. Apart from serving as a guide for policy formulations,
