Box 3: Initiatives for school going students during COVID-19 pandemic
1. PM eVIDYA: This initiative was announced for school and higher education under the Atma
Nirbhar Bharat programme in May, 2020. It is a comprehensive initiative to unify all efforts
related to digital/online/on-air education to enable multi-mode and equitable access to education
for students and teachers. The four PM e-Vidya components of school education are:
a. One nation, one digital education infrastructure: Under this component all States/UTs
have free access to a single digital infrastructure i.e, DIKSHA. It is artificial intelligence
based, highly scalable, and can be accessed through a web-portal and mobile application. It
provides access to a large number of curricula linked e-content through several use cases and
solutions such as QR coded Energized Textbooks (ETBs), courses for teachers, quizzes and
